Strong Born
Growing Strong Born Babies
Our bubs need us to love them and to make them feel safe and secure.
From the beginning and when bubs are born, remember to stay strong, eat good tukka and connect to Country.
Your mob, community and Carbal Medical Services are here to help you while baby is growing and when they’re born.
What you eat and drink fuels your baby to grow strong and healthy and have the best start to life.
Creating healthy habits becomes especially important when nurturing our jarjums within us.
Knowing some truths are the beginning of understanding how we all can make small changes make our jarjums strong born.
Give Your Children
The Best Start to a Healthy & Happy Life
The FACTS:
- No alcohol during pregnancy is best for mum and bub.
- An alcoholic drink while pregnant can weaken baby’s mind, body and spirit.
- Our mob can support healthy choices and saying ‘no’ to charging up while you are pregnant.
Yarnin’
When you are pregnant, people around you are still going to drink grog.
If it’s really hard to stop, you can still yarn up and let people know.
There are always people who can help you!
You Can Yarn With:

Did You Know?
If you charge up while you are pregnant, bub will be at risk of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
This happens when bub is affected by grog before they are born.
What is FASD?
FASD lasts someone’s whole life and might see them not grow up like others, not understand what you say at times or learn like other kids.
It is a disability and is often invisible and needs tests to see if they have it so we can get support for you and them.
What Happens When
My Baby Has FASD?
Our little ones can find it hard in a number of ways:
Physical Impact
- Sleep problems
- Hard to settle
- Upset by loud noises, sudden movement
Learning Difficulties
- Everyday things can be hard
- Hard to think and remember things
- Hard to do as they are told
Spiritual & Emotional
- Feel alone
- Not connected to mob
- Have mixed up feelings
- Feel sad and worried
Contact us today if you are worried your baby might have FASD.
